Private Commissions - Information
The ideal time for a maternity portrait session is usually between 27 and 34 weeks of pregnancy, when the belly is beautifully visible and most clients still feel comfortable during the experience. For more elaborate projects, or for clients travelling to Milan or London, we recommend planning the session as early as possible.
We recommend booking at least three months in advance.
Donatella Nicolini Studio accepts a limited number of private commissions each month in order to offer every client a highly personalised experience, from the initial consultation to the final artwork.
For London sessions, international clients or highly bespoke productions, earlier booking is strongly advised.
Portrait sessions are available in Milan, London and selected international destinations.
In Milan, sessions usually take place in our private studio.
In London, we work with carefully selected professional studios, including Chelsea and other central London locations, depending on the creative direction and requirements of the session.
On-location photoshoots may also be considered for private residences, hotels or special creative concepts.
Yes. Professional hair and makeup artistry is included in all our portrait experiences.
The beauty direction is planned to complement the styling, lighting and overall mood of the session, ensuring a polished, refined and timeless result.
Yes. The Studio offers a curated wardrobe selection, including elegant maternity and non-maternity pieces, silk draping, fabrics and accessories. During the pre-shoot consultation, we will define the styling direction together and guide you towards the looks that best suit your body, your personal style and the portraits we wish to create.
Clients are also welcome to bring personal pieces, jewellery or meaningful items, when aligned with the artistic direction of the session.
Before the photoshoot, we arrange a video consultation to understand your expectations, personal style, preferences and the kind of portraits you would like to create. This is where we define the creative direction of the session, including mood, wardrobe, lighting, colours, number of looks, family portraits and the final purpose of the images. The consultation allows us to design a bespoke experience rather than a standard photoshoot.
Yes. Partner and family portraits can be included as part of the experience.
We will discuss who will be photographed during the pre-shoot consultation, so that every portrait feels intentional, elegant and naturally integrated into the final story.
Yes. Donatella Nicolini Studio offers mother-and-baby portrait experiences from around five months of age onwards.
These sessions are designed with the same refined approach as our maternity and family portraits, with a focus on elegance, connection and timeless imagery. Please note that we do not specialise in newborn photography.
The duration of the photoshoot depends on the type of experience we design together.
A more focused portrait session may last approximately three hours, while a more elaborate experience with multiple looks, styling changes, family portraits or a more complex creative direction may require a longer half-day or full-day format.
Every project is bespoke, and the timeline is defined according to the number of looks, the people involved, the location and the final artistic direction.
Yes. Alongside the final retouched portraits, the Studio offers a refined selection of professional printed products, including fine art prints, framed wall art, albums, portrait boxes and bespoke display options. Your portraits are created to become heirloom artwork: pieces to be displayed, preserved and passed on as part of your family legacy.
Every Donatella Nicolini Studio experience is bespoke.
Pricing depends on the location, creative direction, number of final portraits, styling requirements, people involved, studio or location logistics and the overall scope of the project.
